PRE-TEAM
Swimmer must be able to complete the following in order to join:

Some previous swim lesson experience

Ability to float in the water without assistance

Able to jump into water without fear

Feel comfortable and secure in the water

Willingness to learn

Physical and emotional maturity level that is capable of listening to instructions and applying those instructions in a timely manner
Practice
Practice is offered 3 days per week for 45 minutes. It is recommended to come to each practice for regular improvement. Athletes will improve more quickly and make more friends by attending more workouts.
Group Description
This group is a stroke school. The focal point is having fun learning the basic mechanics of Freestyle and Backstroke. Emphasis is placed on balance and coordination in the water, learning how to listen attentively to coaches and following stroke instruction. We do lots of kicking to build up “the motor”; we introduce 2-3 basic drills for each stroke. Breaststroke and Butterfly drills are introduced along with starts, turns and streamlining skills.
Goals
- Swim 50-100 yards of legal freestyle and backstroke without stopping
- Kick 50-100 yards of legal freestyle and breaststroke without stopping
- Complete a legal flip turn
- Demonstrate beginning knowledge of butterfly and breaststroke techniques
- Push off and streamline to flags with dolphin kick
Progression
The swimmer would progress to the White or Junior Varsity with the approval of the coach once the swimmer has accomplished each goal, and is physically and mentally capable of succeeding at the next level.
