Pre-TeamThis program is designed for children 4 and up. Swimmers must have a basic understanding of general swimming skills to be in these groups. For the pre-team group, swimmers should be water safe and able to make it down 25 yard pool on their own. 10-UnderThe goal of swimmers in this group is the development and refinement of basic skills, endurance and conditioning. Fun and basic techniques are stressed at this level with a progression towards more racing, competitiveness and stroke refinement. This group has practices scheduled 3 times a week, with swimmers being encouraged to attend as many as possible. 11-12 Years OldThe goal of the swimmers in this group is the attainment of Age Group Championship standards. Proper stroke technique is strictly emphasized. The concepts of race strategy and goal setting are introduced at this level. A greater emphasis on endurance and dry land occurs at this level. This group has practices scheduled 6 times a week, with swimmers being encouraged to attend as many as possible. 13 and UpGoals of this group are preparation for the attainment of the swimmers highest level of competition possible which may include Illinois Age Group Championships, Zone time standards, State, National and International competition. This level prepares a swimmer for higher level competition by the introduction of dry land training, racing strategy, and further refinement of stroke, starts and turns. The group emphasizes maximization of physical conditioning through application of sound scientific principles and physiological testing. This group has practices scheduled 6 times a week, with swimmers being encouraged to attend as many as possible. Swimmers committed to attaining the highest levels of competition should expect to attend all practices. MastersGoals of this group are to provide swimmers over the age of 18 an opportunity to continue swimming either competitively, for fitness or triathlon training. Structured work outs geared to meet the goals of the individual. Practice opportunities are scheduled 5 mornings a week. |
